JV Softball Brings Home Championship

May 9, 2018 marks a significant day in Comet sports history. On this day, the Comets JV softball team defeated the Dulaney Lions for the county championship.

The girls had an amazing season with one loss and 16 wins.

“Our first loss was actually to Dulaney as our first game of the season, so being able to play them again in the championship was really fun,” shared team member freshman Samantha Ferguson.

The Comets blew the Lions out with a 12 to nothing end score.

“The end score of the championship was 12-0, as I like to say: 4 times 3 is 12! We scored almost every inning, driving me to strive while pitching for my team that was behind me,” explained team member freshman Sammi Sisolak.

Team member freshman Devyn Tracey explained that to prepare to the championship and the season, they had lots of batting practice and had mini scrimmages at practice.

Freshmen Tara Bowen said that they worked really hard as a team during, to prepare for the championship.

“It was definitely the team work that got us there,” Bowen said.

Everyone a part of the Comets Jv softball team was at a loss for words in the midst of excitement.

“As I struck out the final batter of the game, my whole team tackled me, and the adrenaline of that movement was amazing,” Sisolak explained.

“The girls were awesome to spend time with and it made the win all the special. All the hard work was worth it for the feeling I got when we got the final out” Ferguson shared.

The championship is a day and feeling that the whole team will remember forever and a plaque that will hang in the hallway for years to come.
