After phys ed teacher Chris Hastings left the CHS staff at the end of last year, Catonsville recruited Evan Dougherty to take his place.

Coming from General Johns Stricker Middle School after four years of teaching, Mr. Dougherty is very excited to teach high school students.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to teach at the high school level. High school kids are much easier to deal with,” stated Mr.Dougherty.

He explained how the job was a perfect fit for him, considering his love for kids and sports.

“I really enjoy connecting with kids and teaching them something I’m so passionate about—sports,” Mr. Dougherty commented.

Graduating from Towson University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Physical Education, and Health Education, Mr. Dougherty is currently working on his Master’s Degree in Digital Technology from Loyola University, Maryland.

Outside of school, Mr. Dougherty loves to play sports, especially basketball, and attend concerts.

His experience so far has been great, and he looks forward to his future at CHS, especially coaching JV Boy’s Basketball.

“Everything has been going well so far, and I really love it here,” stated Mr. Dougherty.
