Each new year is a new beginning. This is the time when everyone decides to do something to become their best self.  Each New Year, most people pick a resolution, but come February, it’s been forgotten or just pushed aside.

This year, we encourage you to challenge yourself, take on a New Year’s resolution and stick with it.

  • Get Organized: Getting organized is a great way to start your year off right. Knowing where all your things are is a relief, and the process of organization can be very soothing and relaxing. After you’re organized, you’ll save so much time while do schoolwork, or any day activities. Your work quality will also improve as you can keep track of everything. It takes good organizational skills to plan your day and prioritize projects.
  • Clean the House/ Room: Your house and room are where you spend a lot of your time. Your room especially is where you reflect on your day and have your “me” time. This space should be relaxing to you. A cluttered and messy space can lead to distractions and stress, which isn’t good for your mental state of mind. Help yourself out by cleaning your room so you can find things quicker, and feel better mentally.
  • Learn Something New: Why not seize the opportunity of a fresh start by learning something new? It’s always a good idea to take on a new skill and broaden your horizons; you never know what benefits can come from it. Learn a language, try a new sport, take a cooking class, the possibilities are endless. Each one of these activities can help with other commitments and strengths.
  • Exercise: This resolution is often pushed to side or just given up on in general. Exercise may be hard but it does have good benefits. It’s not only for making you look good, but also to feel good and be healthy. This can be as simple as going to the gym once a week, or even just taking a run around the block. Everyone has 20 minutes to fit into their schedule, why not use it for a simple exercise?
  • Volunteer: Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community. We all have time to spare, and that time could greatly benefit others. It is easy to volunteer at a local soup kitchen, nursing home, or animal shelter. Taking time to give back not only helps a lot of people, but also makes yourself feel better. It’s a great feeling to know that you have helped someone out just by doing little things.
  • Get Those A’s: We all want to get good grades in school. But it is definitely easier said than done. A fresh new year is the perfect time to start better studying habits, because once you put your mind to it, it’s not as hard as one may think. Plus, completing this goal, will definitely help you in the long run. Colleges and jobs in the real world both put grades and education into consideration.
  • Become Less Stressed: Reducing stress has a great amount of benefits. Positive outcomes of becoming less stressed include increased productivity, better health, and more happiness in general. It also reduces medical health risks, such as headaches, high blood pressure, and heart disease. Everyone can take some time out of their busy schedules in order to relax and relieve tension.
  • Spend More Time with Friends and Family: Your friends and family bring out the best in you, and they can make you feel better whenever you have a bad day. When you spend quality time with your family and friends, there’s more opportunities to bond and create quality memories. Making time to spend with these important people in your life is important because it improves your health, happiness, and overall life balance.
  • Eat Healthier: This resolution is definitely a hard one. But the positive effects should be convincing to take on this resolution. For example, you can save money by cutting back on food, and you’ll have less medical bills to pay because you’ll be healthier! Also, you’ll age a lot better and live a lot longer. This is a difficult resolution to stick with, but it’s definitely worth the challenge.
  • Focus on Me: 2016 should be the year for you to become your best self possible. There are many ways to be your best self, including the other resolutions in this article! Other ways can include being a role model, because all you have to do is make smart decisions for yourself, and you benefit others. Also, taking on new responsibilities definitely strengthens the good qualities in you, and make you a better person. Grasp this opportunity of the new year and become a new and improved you.
